Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
